It has been an unusually warm spring so far here in Halifax and I fully expect the summer to be a nice one. With this great weather, we all want to be outside rollerblading, riding our bikes and taking road trips to the cottage. With that in mind, here are some informative investment podcasts that you can listen to on your iPod while you enjoy the nice weather. I’ve scoured the listings in business and finance to find the ones that are the most value oriented. And the best part is that they are free!

Intelligent Investing with Steve Forbes

Steve, the editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine, interviews fund mananagers, CEOs and other notables to discuss investment and finance topics. This is a weekly video podcasts with editions lasting around 20 minutes.

Value Line Observer

Not for the casual investor, this podcast features an incognito Wall Street veteran (identity concealed as his employer may not appreciate his frank views) who thumbs through the latest stocks featured in the Value Line Investment Survey. He picks three investment ideas every edition and reviews the metrics that really matter. This guy really understands investing. However, the numberical focus can be boring for some listeners. This weekly podcast lasts around 40 minutes. A subscription to Value Line is not required for this podcast to be useful.

Investor Questions Podcast

This podcast is done by Geoff Gannon, who used to write the blog “Gannon on Investing”. It has a topical focus on issues such as “How do you calculate a bank’s intrinsic value?” and “Why did Warren Buffett buy Costco stock?”

WealthTrack Podcast

This is a high production value podcast featuring Consuelo Mack, formerly from CNBC. She interviews investment professionals including fund managers, authors and other experts. Past interviews have included Donald Yacktman of Yacktman Funds and Bill Miller of Legg Mason. This is a weekly podcasting lasting around 30 minutes.
